Elf on the Shelf is a popular children’s Christmas tradition. It involves a small toy elf that is placed in a home, usually around Thanksgiving or the beginning of the holiday season. The elf is meant to watch over the children in the home and report back to Santa Claus on their behavior. Each night, the elf “flies” back to the North Pole to give Santa a report on the children, and then returns to the home the next day in a different location. Children are encouraged to find the elf each morning and try to be on their best behavior to earn a good report. Elf on the Shelf has become a popular holiday tradition for many families and has inspired a series of books and other products.
I LOVE being able to participate in so many Elf on the Shelf traditions each year. Some elf orders were placed at the beginning of the month to announce the elf’s return. Others came in the middle of the year to remind kiddos how many days were left. And some left their cookie for the child to find on Christmas morning to say goodbye and Merry Christmas. Let me know if you would like one during the next Christmas season!
